The following record was found on the Internet it shows that Bert was a
POW at Sagan and Belaria.

which has been translated:-
STALAG LUFT 4 SAGAN – BELARIA
Translation -STALAG AIR 4 SAGAN – BELARIA
Obóz istniał od stycznia 1944 r., przy obecnej ul. Kożuchowskiej, w
pobliżu zakładów zbrojeniowych OST-Bau Werke. Ewakuowany 27 stycznia
1945 roku.
Translation -The camp existed from January
1944, at today's ul. Kożuchowska, near the OST-Bau Werke armaments
factory. Evacuated on January 27, 1945.
Bert went missing in July 1944 so this
camp would have been in existence then.
